Why Monsters?

Monster therapy is a symbolic and experiential form of psychotherapy that aims to target the psychological fears (or “monsters”) caused from trauma, conflict, anxiety, substance use and depression. It is a style of therapy that can help you identify, confront and learn to cope with the fears often at play with your mental health concerns.

Are you conflicting with your spouse? It’s not your spouse that is the source of your pain , it really is the fear of vulnerability or the fear of abandonment that continue to reinforce that psychological monster of anger that will continue to haunt your ability to connect and resolve your issues.

Are you feeling anxious or depressed? What do you think gives power to those kind of symptoms? Is it your negativity or is it really a deep seated fear that you’re not competent or, in the more severe cases ,not worthy enough to have a fulfilling life?

Have you experienced trauma? Situations of trauma actually can reprogram your brain to view the world in a protective or regressed state of being. Over time, if trauma is not confronted and resolved it can actually manifest into severe psychological symptoms that can include everything from nightmare disorders, hallucinations, mood dysregulation and even psychosis.

Growing up, I always had a fascination with the science behind horror and fear and the impact they have on us as a society as a whole. Throughout my years of practice, I have learned that the source of all psychological or mental health issues boil down to a state or even a series of fears.

Whether it be a fear we had and made a decision about as a child, or a new fear that is shaped through the irrationality of the adult mind there is no denying the need to have a dedicated place to explore , confront and make new decisions to how these fears shape our lives is extremely important.

If you are someone who needs professional assistance with understanding and overcoming the fear that continues to reinforce your trauma, anxiety, depression or anger the contact me today to learn more about how I can help.
